experience the magic of waterfire
Originally created in 1994, Providence's WaterFire was named the "Most popular work of art created in the capital city's history" by the Providence Journal. Today, the magical artistic display draws hundreds of thousands of spectators each year to the canals throughout the city, located just outside the front steps of our downtown Providence hotel.
As a moving symbol of Providence's renaissance, WaterFire features one hundred sparkling bonfires throughout the downtown basin of the Providence River. The fires can be seen from the paths of Waterplace Park and arched bridges along the river. For a unique perspective, visitors may also hire a private gondola to slowly glide them through the waterways gliding past the crackling cauldrons.
Be sure to give yourself time to enjoy dinner at a downtown Providence restaurant before stepping outside to enjoy the music and entertainment.
*The 2011 WaterFire season has come to a close. We hope you were able to enjoy this unique mesmerizing Providence attraction. Thank you all for your participation and support - we look forward to welcoming you back in 2012.
