Create lasting family memories at Roger Williams Park Zoo
Originally opened in 1872, the Roger Williams Park Zoo is one of the oldest in the nation and is a leader in conservation efforts. Located approximately 4.5 miles away from our downtown Providence hotel, the Roger Williams Park Zoo has won numerous awards for environmental education. The zoo is also very active in both local and international conservation, caring for species that, without human interaction, would surely become extinct. During Halloween, enjoy over 10,000 glowing pumpkins at the Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular.
The Roger Williams Park Zoo features over 100 species of mammals, birds, reptiles and more. Listed below is more information regarding the permanent exhibits. Click for Roger Williams Park Zoo map.

Here you will find kangaroos hopping around or possibly living in a tree, a side-necked turtle swimming, an emu squawking about or listen to the laughing kookaburra. Also featured in this exhibit are gibbons, wallabies (a cousin to the kangaroo) and much more.
Marco Polo Trail
The Marco Polo Trail is a multifaceted exhibit where visitors can follow the path of explorer Marco Polo, and see some of the amazing animals that can be found along way.
To start your journey, experience the culture and history of the era inside a recreated Venetian plaza. Then, check out a Bedouin tent and venture inside the hull of a 16th century trading vessel. Once your "travels" are complete, you'll see Dromedary camels, highly endangered moon bears and red pandas, and captivating snow leopards.
