Rhode Island Vineyards - Sample the local flavor

When staying with us at our Providence hotel, we invite you to explore the Rhode Island countryside and enjoy one of our local Rhode Island vineyards. We've included two of our favorites below; however, if you have any additional questions please let a member of our staff know and we can provide you with other options.

Newport Vineyards
As the largest grower of wine grapes in New England, Newport Vineyards can trace its heritage back to 1977 when the first French-American grapes were planted. Overlooking Rhode Island Sound, the vineyard original mission was to produce fine wines, but also protect the agricultural land from being commercially developed.

Today Newport Vineyards continually produces top performing wines, often receiving nationally and internationally recognition. The Riesling placed best in show at the Jefferson Cup Atlantic Seaboard Wine Competition - besting a field of nearly 460 wines.

Currently, over fifty acres are devoted to the growing of Vinifera varietals including Chardonnay, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Noir, and Cabernet Franc as well as Vidal Blanc one of the French-American hybrids.
