Brown University is the seventh oldest college in the country and is a private, Ivy League university. The university's main campus is located atop College Hill across the river from downtown Providence. Brown is made up of 235 separate buildings, many of which are quaint Victorian-era homes that have been acquired from the neighboring community. The university's four most popular areas of study are Social Sciences, Humanities, Life Sciences and Physical Sciences.
Bryant University (hotel is 11 miles from campus)
Bryant University, a private institution located in Smithfield, Rhode Island, was previously known as Bryant College up until 2004, and was originally founded in 1863. Beginning in the mid-1990s, the university began a complete transformation with the construction of a plethora of new facilities including a new library, athletic center, communications and IT complex, residence hall, interfaith center and upgraded all athletic fields and facilities.
Johnson and Wales University (hotel is .5 miles from campus)
Specializing in culinary, hospitality, equine management and education, the Johnson and Wales University system includes four campuses, of which the largest is located in downtown Providence. The university is renowned for its culinary arts programs, as it is the world's largest food service educator; however, has also recently elevated its stature with burgeoning hospitality and business programs.

Founded in 1917, Providence College offers fifty majors and thirty-four minors, and is the only college or university in North America administered by the Dominican Order of Friars. The college is located on a gated 105 acre campus in the city's Elmhurst neighborhood atop Smith Hill, the highest point in the city of Providence. The athletics program was a founding member of both the Hockey East and the Big East conferences.

Established as the Rhode Island State Normal School, Rhode Island College is a four-year public institution. For a sizeable portion of the school's history it was known as a teaching college; however, the academic programs now includes five separate colleges including education, management and nursing.
Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) (hotel is 1 mile from campus)
Located at the base of College Hill, RISD shares community, academic, and social resources with Brown and also offers joint courses. The school consistently ranks as the nation's number one college of fine arts and is notorious for requiring all students to complete the three-drawing "hometest". The school also maintains over 80,000 works of art in the RISD museum.
Roger Williams University (hotel is 20 miles from campus)
Founded in 1956 in honor of Rhode Island's co-founder, Roger Williams, the university is located in Bristol, Rhode Island and sits atop Mount Hope Bay. Today the university is one of the nation's only schools to offer an undergraduate degree in Marine Biology and has the only law school in Rhode Island.
University of Rhode Island (hotel is 30 miles from campus)
With several campuses throughout the state, the University of Rhode Island operates its main campus in the city of Kingston, located in southwestern Rhode Island. Students can choose from over 80 majors within ten different colleges.
